Olympus zoom stereo microscopes: next generation SZX2 family of scopes from Olympus.
The new SZX2 stereomicroscope series is the result of our engineers’ steady pursuit of ultra-refined Galilean optics - the industry standard optical system for advanced stereomicroscopy.  The SZX2 lineup is designed to increase contrast and resolution for obtaining the highest image quality during macro observation at low magnification, as well as optimum resolution at high magnification.  Enchanced versatility is assured by the world’s highest zoom range and increased focal depth.

The new features and options of our newest generation SZX2 microscopes allow for high level application-oriented imaging and digital archiving tasks within the electronics and materials science areas.

Olympus’s SZX research grade microscope series provides maximum flexibility for  observation and documentation. There are three different models in the range.

LIGHTING

FIBER OPTIC LIGHTING

The Olympus fiber optic lighting systems offer quality and flexibility with a choice of either a ringlight for homogeneous illumination or single/ double fiber light bundles for special contrast effects.

FIBER OPTIC COAXIAL LIGHTING
Ideal for imaging of highly reflective and low contrast specimens. The on-axis fiber optic coaxial illumination system utilizes a powerful light source and 1/4 wave plate for glare reduction; a bulb and power cord are included.

LED RINGLIGHT LIGHTING
Offering the latest technology in illumination, our 4-part LED ringlight offers you the freedom to direct the 13-pattern LED for homogenous or contrast-controlled white light.

STANDS/BASES
PLATFORM STANDS

Large and small platform stands are available to accommodate various sample sizes. For the inspection of larger/taller pieces, auxillary posts of 400mm and 600mm are available.

BOOM AND TABLE CLAMP STANDS
Horizontal, vertical, and tilting movements are possible.

TRANSMITTED LIGHT STANDS
We offer four transmitted light bases:

  1. Our basic stand includes  an adjustable matte/silvered mirror for oblique illumination, a variable transformer for intensity control, and a slot to insert filters.
  2. The advanced model has an an adjustable matte/silvered mirror for oblique illumination, a contrast selection knob for low/high magnification, and three built-in filters.
  3. The brightfield/darkfield version has an exceptionally large illuminated field that allows for high and low magnification darkfield observation. Lamp and LBD Filter are built in.
  4. The low profile LED Universal Stand for brightfield/darkfield/oblique illumination is our most technically advanced stand utilizing an LED with an average life of approximately 12,800 hours.

STAGING
A variety of manual and motorized stages can be attached for precise sample movement in both the x and y direction.

AUTOMATION
Foot, handswitch, or software control of the SZX2 focus/zooming  mechanisms permit the user to concentrate on the tasks at hand while improving overall work efficiency during observation and image processing/archiving.

FLUORESCENCE MODULE
Stereo fluorescence is easily accomplished by use of a 100W mercury lamp and a choice of two fluorescence illuminators:
  • The standard model (SZX-RFL2) employs a variety of filter sets through which the specimen is illuminated in the traditional manner
  • The advanced model (SZX-RFL3) also employs a variety of filter sets but illuminates the specimen from outside the objective, eliminating auto-fluorescence from the lens itself.
DIGITAL IMAGING
MULTIPLE CAMERA PORTS

The SZX has the ability to attach multiple cameras. Up to three cameras can image simultaneously. In addition to a trinocular head with photoport, a beamsplitter module is available to provide both left and right optical paths to an additional two independent cameras. This allows for imaging of either optical path, or both for stereo pairs.

REVOLVING NOSEPIECE FOR ON-AXIS IMAGING

Ensures on-axis objective alignment for aberration-free images, especially useful during digital image acquisition.
Our sophisticated microscope digital cameras and image analysis software packages support a multitude of operations including observation, report generation, database archiving and control of the SZX motorized components.
