Digital Micro Imaging Process Provides Direct, Accurate, Real-Time Data Acquisition & Dissemination

The advent of digital imaging technology has successfully replaced the once commonplace practice of microscope photography.  Today the convenience and simplicity of combining a digital camera with a microscope enables fast and easy image acquisition and dissemination.

Olympus makes a wide range of digital cameras that are designed to be used in the specialized environment of the microscope.  The Olympus DP series of cameras is designed to provide a high dynamic range that enables them to create images with light levels lower than consumer cameras. These  specialized cameras are designed to work exclusively with a computer and fit seamlessly into image analysis packages, performing well even in extreme laboratory and manufacturing environments

The emerging area of digital micro-imaging enables direct and easy measuring of any item that can be imaged.  The images are calibrated through the compound or stereo microscope and direct pixel count can easily be made for real measurements that can be shared.  While the old photographic imaging method required time consuming calculations and rulers, the new digital micro-imaging process provides direct, accurate, real-time data acquisition and dissemination throughout a lab or around the world.

The Olympus line of optical systems combined with the new Discover series of image analysis software is the easy, integrated answer for all current and future digital imaging and measurement needs.

Typical digital micro imaging applications are found in automotive, EOEM, food, lithography, medical, metallurgical, plastic, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, circuit board manufacturing, medical device, physics research, chemical research, fuel research and development, geology and the wafer manufacturing industries to name a few.
